Spring Break

On Monday in I.S. Five (Beacon), I had a challenge of monopoly money and we (the kids) needed to find it in the auditorium. In music class, I sang Thinking Out Loud (by Ed Sheeran). On Tuesday, we had a cooking challenge and made pancakes. On Wednesday, we had an obstacle course. Our team was last place because they don't know how to play jump rope and hula hoop. On Thursday, we had an art challenge and I drew a rainbow egg. On Friday, we had an egg hunt and I found two eggs that had jelly beans. On Sunday, I went to the park and played with my friend. I also went to church and learned about the truth. These are all the things I did on Spring Break.

Beacon Hunger Games

Beacon made the biggest move yet on Friday April 24, 2015 : to host The Beacon Hunger Games. Participants of all ages accepted the challenge. Separated into12 teams, or Districts,  and using 3 floors, they had to work as a team to win. Every District consisted of different ages, from 5 to 12 years old. This is what a few of the participants had to disclose:

"The Hunger Games was very fun. My favorite (part) was when we did the maze. It was cool in the dark. My second favorite (part) was the scavenger hunt. I loved the ping pong (challenge).  I loved the Hunger Games." - Alana, Manhattan

"This (past) Friday in Beacon, we had an event called the Hunger Games. One of the (challenges) was a maze, a relay race, and a scavenger hunt. They were all hard and fun." - Christian, Bronx
